4 Halifaxes and 3 Liberators were detailed for Supply Dropping by night in specified areas in Jugo-Slavia, and 1 Halifax in Greece. 2 Halifaxes returned with full loads because of weather conditions. The other aircraft were successful.

3 Halifaxes and 3 Liberators were scheduled for POLAND. 1 Halifax and 1 Liberator received re-call by W/T. The other aircraft found no reception and returned with full loads, but one Halifax was forced to jettison its load 6 miles North of Bari and landed there.

4 Halifaxes and 2 Liberators flew to North Italy on Supply Droping mission. 4 Halifaxes were unsuccessful, 2 because of weather and no reception, one because of weather alone and one because of technical failure. the two liberators were completely successful.

2 Halifaxes went to North Italy, one being successful and the other returning owing to weather. 1 Halifax went to Greece and one Liberator to Austria. Bothof these missions were successfully carried out.

Of the others, one returned because of engine failure, one received no reception and two others were force to return by weather conditions. 3 Liberators carried out a similar task. one of them got no reception but the maining two succeeded in dropping their loads.

3 Liberators went to POLAND. One was forced to jettison its load over that country through engine trouble, one had no reception, and the third returned because of the weather.

Scheduled operations were cancelled during the morning because of weather conditions.

7 aircraft (3 Liberators 4 Halifaxes) were briefed for POLAND. One Halifax did not take off, due to engine trouble, another reached the target by D/R only, and failed to get reception. Soon after it sighted what was believed to be an enemy night fighter, and jettisoned all its load with the exception of three containers. the other two Halifaxes also failed, because of weather and one of these was force to jettision over Roumania, through heavy icing.
The 3 Liberators were also unsuccessful, one getting no reception and the other two being forced to return by bad weather.

Of two Liberators which went to Jugo-Slavia, one was partly successful, the other failing because of weather. Packages were dropped at one target, but the containers “hung up”. There was no reception at the other target.

At the end of the month our aircraft strength was 5 Halifax IIs. 2 Halifax Vs and 4 Liberators VI .
Average daily serviceability of all types for the month was 70%,
We have 7 Halifax crews, and 5 Liberator crews; also 2 Stirling crews who are non – effective as well as 1 incomplete Halifax crwe.
