1943-02-01

Heston

09.00 The main party left R.A.F. Station, Heston to entrain at Southall for R.A.F. Station, Kirton Lindsey, which was reached in the late afternoon. The aerodrome at Heston was u/s as the result of heavy rain during the previous night and the aircraft were unable to take off.

The weather was quite good and 19 aircraft of the Squadron landed from Heston at
15.15 hours. The weather become bad later on and there was heavy rain.

It rained heavily throughout the day and there was no flying.

08.18 One Section at readiness. Weather fine with good visibility. Pilots carried out sector recco during most of the day.

08.12 One section at readiness. Weather rather windy with slight ground mist. Much training flying was undertaken.

08.10 One Section at readiness, remainder at 30 minutes. Weather fair but windy. Some cine camera gun training, air firing and other non-operational flying was carried out.

08.09 One Section at readiness. two Sections at 15 minutes, rest at 30 minutes. weather fine with very little cloud. Some cine camera gun training and practise scrambles were carried out during the day.

08.08 One Section at readiness. Weather cold and windy. Squadron formation flying was carried out during the morning.
12.45 Two aircraft scrambled but returned after 20 minutes having seen nothing.
18.15 Squadron released.

08.04 One Section at readiness, one section at 15 minutes. Weather rather windy, clouds –low. Various training flying including a practice scramble was carried out.
18.30 squadron released.

08.05 One Section at readiness. the weather was good and some cine-camera gun training was done during the morning. The weather become bad later and there was no further flying.
18.27 Squadron released.

08.01 One Section at readiness. Weather fine but a gale warning was received. Formation flying was done during the morning and afternoon. Interception training with a Wellington was also undertaken. Squadron was released at 18.30 hours.

08.00 One section at readiness. Weather windy – more than 30 M.p.h. Some cine-camera gun training was undertaken during the morning.
13.40 Yellow Section scrambled but returned at 14.45 hours having made no contact. Further training flying was carried out and the Squadron was released at 18.30 hours

07.58 One Section at readiness, remainder of Squadron at 30 minutes. The weather was fine all day. Much training flying, mostly air firing, was carried out.
18.30 Squadron released.

07.54 One Section at readiness. weather cold with strong wind. Training flying was done during the afternoon. Squadron was released at 18.30 hours.

07.52 One Section at readiness. Weather fair. Two aircraft did air firing during the morning.
13.00 Squadron was released for training but no further flying was carried out.

1943-02-16

07.52 Squadron at 30 minutes. Weather gusty. Squadron did local formation flying during the morning. One Section was brought to readiness at 13.00 hours and scrambled at 14.00 hours but the e/a made off and no contact was made. Further training flying was undertaken and the Squadron [Illegibble] at 18.35 hours. Six pilots were at 30 minutes during the monlight period for Fighter Night.

07.45 Squadron released for training. Weather was fairly good and squadron formation flying was carried throughout, the morning.

07.44 One Section at readiness. the weather was cold with some frost. Only formation flying was carried out and the Squadron was released at 18.45 hours.

The Squadron was released for training during the morning and came to 30 minutes at 13.00 hours. The weather was misty all day and there was no flying.
18.50 Squadron released off day state but six pilots remained at a Fighter Night state of 120 minutes.

07.42 Squadron at 30 minutes. The weather was misty and cold and remained non-operational until the late afternoon when a little formation flying was carried out.
