Some high flying and dog fighting. Information received from A.M. the F/O Strzembosz, reported missing 8.7.41 was now presumed for official purposes to have been killed on that date. Sgt. Pilot Giermer reported from Northolt on ceasing to be non-effective.

Twelve aircraft took off at 11.00 hrs to patrol Le Touquet at 7000 feet. F/O Gladych saw a pilot bale out of a Spitfire and circled him to give R/T position. He was then attacked by a F.W.190 which was in turn attacked by Sgt. Adamek and after two burst was seen to crash onto the sea. F/O Gladych and Sgt. Adamek returned alone refuelling at Kenley. Our cas. NIL. Enemy a/c destroyed – 1 F.W.190.

Rhubarb Operation No. 6 by F/Lt. Daszewski, P/O Glowacki, P/O Horbaczewski and Sgt. Kolecki being an attack on the distillery at Beauchamp. P/O Glowacki attacked and silenced a machine-gun post, he also scored hits on the engine of a goods train. At the distillery the water tower and two large oil containers were attacked the later being set on fire. Various objectives were attacked including one large building on the return journey. All the aircraft were slightly damaged from A.A. fire, the controls of the aircraft flown by F/Lt Daszewski being severed by a cannon shell through the fuselage. All however returned to base safely.

Demonstration of aircraft practice by ground crews and pilots. Some training flying. Twelve aircraft took off at 14.25 on a Sweep over the Channel – Dungeness to Manston – at 24,000 feet. No enemy aircraft sighted and patrol entirely uneventful. All aircraft returned to base.

The Squadron flew to Martlesham Heath and were there all day engaged on convoy patrols. No events of interest except difficulty in returning owing to bad weather.
