1941-08-01
Northolt.
F/O. S. BRENK posted from R.A.F. Polish Depot, Blackpool. supermmerary for duty as Assistant Adjutant. Two aircraft carried out Sector Recco, two aircraft took part in cloud flying and two aircraft practiced “ZZ” landings.
1941-08-02
Northolt.
Four aircraft took part in a Rhubarb over France, and attacked aerodromes at Grecy and Abbeville, but cloud was down to 800 feet.. Eight aircraft took part in four separate flights (practice).

A cable was received from P/O. J. ZULIKOWSKI to say that he is safe and well and interned at ECLOLE MILITAIRE ST HIPPOLYTE DU FORT GARD.
F/O. M. SKALSKI was admitted to R.A.F. Hospital, Halton. F/O. P. LASOTA – GLADZIK, Intelligence Officer, proceeded by rail to R.A.F. Polish Depot, BLACKPOOL. on temporary
duty to attend conference.
12 aircraft took part in Squadron Formation practice. Three aircraft did “ZZ” landings and three aircraft took part in local practice flying.

Sgt. Pilot T. Zawistowski arrived on posting from No. 55 O.T.U. W.E.F. 28/7.41 after seven days leave. Nine aircraft took part in Squadron Formation flying, five aircraft took part in cloud flying on two occasions and 5 aircraft carried out formation flying.

12 aircraft took of to acted as Escort Cover over St. Omer but the operations were cancelled due to unsuitable weather and all the aircraft returned after 20 minutes flying. Eleven aircraft carried out practice formation flying.

F/O. J. KOSMOWSKI and P/O. J. MARAS were posted to N.E. Depot, Blackpool having been missing for 14 days.
P/O. K. GORNIAK, P/O. S. MARCISZ and P/O. ZMIGRODSKI arrived from No 55 O.T.U. after 7 days leave having been posted with effect from 28/7/41 for flying duties.
F/O. O. KAMIENSKI was discharged from R.A.F. Officers Hospital, Torquay.
F/O. K. Rutkowski was about to take off in a Spitfire when his undercarriage broke. The plane was damaged, but the pilot uninjured.
Six pilots carried out test flights, and four aircraft did some local flying. Two aircraft took part in formation flying in clouds.

Northolt.
12 aircraft took part in a Wing Sweep over St. Omer and crossed the French Coast East of Dunkirk and proceeded from there to Cassel and then to Gravelines. Saw two Me. but too far away to attack.
12 aircraft acted as Support Wing over Foret de Nieppe. Over Foret at 17.47 hrs. at 24,000 feet a saw 12 Me. at 30,000 feet, which dived towards 308 Squadron. 306 could no attack. On the way back, saw 2 Me. 109 (F) over Channel, again too far away to engage.

F/O. K. Rutkowski placed in open arrest for low flying on Ruislip Common.
12 Aircraft took of from Northolt to act as Support Wing over St. Omer. 306 remained above while 308 and 315 Squadrons went down to attack some Me. 306 Squadron lost the others and returned alone.
In the evening 11 aircraft took part in a Wing Sweep and flew over Ambleteuse, Clerques, Mardyck at 24,000 feet.
Two aircraft twice took part in dog fighting practice.

P/O. Z. RADOMSKI made a crash landing on the ‘drome as his undercarriage would not lock escaped uninjured, but the plane was badly damaged.
12 aircraft took off from Northolt to act as Bombers Medium Cover over Gravelines.

Five aircraft carried out test flights and two aircraft took part in formation flying. Two aircraft also took part in local flying.
Sgt. Pilot R. DABROWSKI was posted to this Unit from R.A.F. Station, Northolt on ocasing to bee non- effect.
13 ACH/Pilots ocased to be attached from Blackpool and proceeded C.A.C.R.O. Regents park and 11 more ACH/Pilots arrived from Polish Depot, Blackpool on attachment.

12 Aircraft took of from Northolt to act as top bombers escort over Bethune. Saw 4 Me. but too far away to attack.
12 Aircraft took part in a Wing Sweep over St. Omer at 24,000 feet.
On three separate occasion three aircraft took part in formation flying.
At dusk 4 aircraft practiced circuits and landings.

P/O. C. DASZUTA proceeded to St. Clears, South Wales on temporary duty as representative at funeral of P/O. Blach of 308 (Polish) Squadron.
12 aircraft took part in cloud flying and “ZZ” landings throughout the day, but there was no operational flying.

P/O. (AFO) S. PUZYNA proceeded from this Unit to No. 25 E.F.T.S. Peterborough, on posting for Interpreter duties (F/O. post) with effect from 13/8/41. F/O. S. BRENK one takes over Adjutants duties.
F/O. (AFL) J. SLONSKI appointed to the paid Acting Rank of F/Lt. after 21 days in the unpaid acting rank.
Formation flying was carried out by aircraft in pairs.
12 Aircraft took of from Northolt to act as support wing to 6 Hempdens over St. Omer. The Squadron was attacked by over 20 Me. of which F/Lt. J. SLONSKI destroyed 2, and Sgt. WIEPRZKOWICZ probably destroyed one. F/Lt. S. ZIELINSKI and F/O. K. RUTKOWSKI also had combats but make no claims.
S/LDR. J. ZAREMBA, P/O. W. HOMS and Sgt. S. ZIEMBA failed to return from this Operation.
F/O. (A/F/L) appointed to the unpaid Acting Rank of S/Ldr on appointment to S/Ldr post.
F/O. S. SKALSKI appointed to the unpaid Acting Rank of Flight Lieutenant on appointment to F/Lt. post.
1941-08-16

12 Aircraft took of from Northolt to act as support wing over St. Omer. Near St. Omer saw 15 Me. which they attacked so successfully that P/O. LANGHAMER, P/O. RADOMSKI, SGT. PIETRZAK, SGT. JEKA, SGT. JASINSKI, SGT. PUDRYCKI each destroyed one. P/O. LANGHAMER also fired at a hangar and F/O. RUTKOWSKI attacked some soldiers on the ground. SGT. PIETRZAK also seriously damaged one Me.
SGT, FRANCZAK failed to return and is believed to be a prisioner of war.
11 aircraft took off to act as top cover wing of bomber escort over St. Omer – no incident.

1941-08-18
Northolt.
12 aircraft took of from Northolt to act as top cover escort but failed to make contact with bombers at Dungeness and cruised around in Channel for about 20 to 30 minutes without seeing anything and then returned to Northolt.
F/O. K. PNIAK admitted to Hillingdon County Hospital, and posted to R.A.F. Station, Northolt N.E. sick.

12 aircraft took of from Northolt to act as Target Support Wing over Bethune. The wing was attacked by 10 Me. of which F/Lt. S. SKALSKI destroyed one, Sgt. S. WIEPRZKOWICZ attacked another without result. Over Calais Sgt KOSMOWSKI saw one Me. hit and destroyed by German flak.
In the evening 12 aircraft took of from Northolt to act as top cover wing over Hazebrouck and flew Broxbourne, Southend, Manston, Mardyck, Hazebrouck, Gravelines, Manston without incident.

Six aircraft took of from aerodrome to carry out practice attacks on a glider, which was released at 6,000 ‘ over aerodrome.

12 aircraft took of from Northolt to act as rear support Wing to Montrenil and covered withdrawal of bombers, but too far away to engage.
11 aircraft took of from Northolt to act as Support Wing over St. Omer. During this operation F/Lt. S. SKALSKI attacked and destroyed 1 Me. 109 (F). We suffered no casaulties.

F/O. W. SZYSZKOWSKI, P/O. W. DRECKI, P/O. R. MALCZEWSKI arrived as this Unit from No. 303 Squadron Speke on posting for flying duties with effect from 20/8/41. One aircraft carried out a test flying and one aircraft did some local flying.

12 aircraft took of from Northolt and patrolled South of Gravelines for 10 minutes at 23,000 feet to cover withdrawal of bombers.

12 aircraft took of from Northolt to act as Top Escort over St. Omer but failed to make contact with bombers at Manston so the Wing went off to Gravelines. Here 4 Me. made a dive attack on 306 and then fled to France. P/O. RADOMSKI was hit, and hat to make a crash landing near Deal, as a result of which he had to have an arm amputated.
Four aircraft took off for patrol over Channel and returned without incident.

Sgt. Pilot ZIEBA was posted to N.E. Depot, Blackpool having been missing since 14/8.41.
S/Ldr. J. ZAREMBA was posted to N.E. Depot, Blackpool having been missing since 14/8.41.
P/O. W. CHOMS was posted to N.E. Depot, Blackpoool having been missing since 14/8.41.
F/O. E. JANKOWSKI proceeded to No. 61 O.T.U. Heston for instructor duties with effect from 27/8.41.
Sgt. Pilot JASINSKI admitted to R.A.F. Hospital, Halton.

12 aircraft took of from Northolt to act as top cover over Hazebrouck. Sgt. Machowiak destroyed 1 Me. 109 (F) during a combat near the target area. S/Ldr. J. SLONSKI failed to return from this operation.
General JANUSZAJTIS visited the Squadron and spoke to the Polish Personnel. He was recently released from Russia where he had been a prisioner of War.
