1941-09-01

Northolt.

F/O. A. WCZELIK was posted to this Unit from No. 317 Squadron to command and appointed to the rank of Acting Squadron Leader.
F/O. M. SKALSKI ceased to be detached to A.F.D.U. Duxford and posted to A.F.D.U. Duxford for flying duties.
5 aircraft took off to carry out local formation flying.
On two occasion the Squadron took of and landed at Redhill to operate from there but each time the Operations were cancelled AND THE Squadron returned to Northolt.
At night 6 aircraft carried out Night Operational Flying without incident.

SGT. S. SLOWIKOWSKI arrived from No. 303 Squadron, Speke on posting for flying duties with effect from 30/9/41.

F/O. T. PIOTROWSKI and P/O. S. WALCZAK were posted from No. 5 S. of T.T. Locking
supermemmorary for Engineer duties.
Six aircraft carried out “ZZ” practices. Three aircraft carried out practice dog fighting and three aircraft practiced formation flying.

Northolt.

This date is the first anniversary of the Squadron. G/Cptn visited the Squadron and a short service for all personnel was held at Dispersal Point after which photographs were taken for the records of the Squadron. Squadron badges were presented to G/Cptn Mc. Evoy and S.Ldr. Wczelik and also to Mr. Wilson, the Squadron Education Officer, three officers and 22 airmen all of which when had done 6 months active service with the Unit.
Sgt. Pilot Z. ROZWORSKI posted from No. 245 Squadron, Chilbolton.
Instructions received for the posting of P/O. Z. RADOMSKI to R.A.F. STATION, NORTHOLT N/E Sick.W.E.F. 27th August, 1941 on admission to Deal Hospital.
The Squadron took of from Northolt to act as Support Wing with Nos. 308 and 315 Squadrons to Fruges to cover withdrawal of bombers.

The Squadron carried out practice formation flying.

The Squadron carried out firing to ground and two aircraft carried out low flying.

Six aircraft took part in low flying practice and five aircraft took part in formation flying.

During the day aircraft took part in sector recce, low flying, formation and cloud flying.

During the morning the Squadron carried out practice interception. At 17.45 hours the Squadron took off on an Offensive swep over St. Omer with 308 and 315 Squadrons. The Squadron was attacked near St. Omer as the result of which Sgt. WIEPRZKOWICZ failed to return.

At 13.40 hours the Squadron took of on Circus 95 to act as Escort Cover Wing to Mazingarbe. During this Operation F/Lt. SKALSKI shot down two Me. 109 (F) and P/O. DASZUTA did not return but is known to be a prisoner of War.

1941-09-18

11 Aircraft with W/Cdr. ROLSKI acted as Escort Cover Wing to 6 Hampdens. Several Me. 109s were sighted at which F/Lt. SKALSKI, Sgt. PIETRZAK and Sgt. HORN fired, but without observing results.

P/O. E. KRZEMINSKI arrived together with Sgt. WARDZINSKI and Sgt. BEDNARSKI from No. 303 Squadron on posting for flying duties W.E.F. 17/9/41.
Practice formation flying and “ZZ” landings were carried out.

In the morning firing to ground was carried out. 12 aircraft took off from Northolt at 14.55. hours to cover 12 Blenheims attacking a target at Rouans

SGT. WYSZKOWSKI arrived from No. 303 Squadron on posting for flying duties W.E.F. 17/9/41.
12 aircraft took off from Northolt to act as Escort Cover Wing to bombers to Bethune (Circus 101).
Some combats developed but no casualties were inflicted on the enemy. Sgt. KOSMOWSKI [………. ] was heavily hit by cannon fire but he landed safely at Northolt.

The Squadron took off twice and landed at Redhill for operations but on each occasion the operations were cancelled and the Squadron returned to Northolt.

Sgt. BEDNARSKI and Sgt. WARDZINSKI proceeded to 302 Squadron on posting for flying duties with effect from 23/9/41.
P/O. S. SZPAKOWICZ arrived from No. 316 Squadron on posting for flying duties W.E.F. 23/9/41.
The Squadron carried out cloud flying, low flying, formation flying and navigational practice.

1941-09-27

Northolt.

Sgt. WYSZKOWSKI proceeded to 316 Squadron on posting for flying duties W.E.F. 23/9/41.
P/O. S. KEZIERSKI arrived from No. 302 Squadron on posting for flying duties W.E.F. 23/9.41.
Two aircraft carried out “ZZ” landings. At 12.05 hours the Squadron took off from Northolt and landed at Redhill for operations but had to return owing to the cancellation of these operations.
At 13.40 hours the Squadron again took off and acted as Escort Cover Wing to Bombers to Amiens. Off Le Torquet 306 and 315 Squadrons were attacked by 15 Me. 109s and a general flight followed, during which P/O. MALCZEWSKI and SGT. SOLOGUB each destroyed one Me. 109. Sgt. ROZWORSKI damaged one. Over Amiens S/Ldr. WCZELIK damaged one Me. 109. All aircraft returned safely.
Dusk and Night Operational flying was carried out without incident.
