Throughout today our pilots carried out a further 20 Anti Divers Patrols. These patrols were uneventul however. P.704150 Sgt Pilot Szostakowski, J proceeded to North Berwick for
No. 7 Polish Army Cadet Course – Posted to P.A.F. Depot whilst attending this Course.

Pilots continued their Anti Divers activities: they carried out 8 patrols between 08.15 hrs and 11/30 hrs. Once again the patrols were without incident.

12.25. Squadron was escorting Halifax and Mosquitoes to WANNE EICKEL. Pilots landed back at Base 14.35/15.05 hrs.
17.15. 12 pilots took off from Base and carried out escort cover in the area DORTMUND / MUNSTER – Operation Ramrod No. 1278. Other flying today consisted of local flying in the Auster aircraft and by F/Lt Potocki in a Squadron Mustang. P.784331 W/O Krupa, W posted from R.A.F. Hawkinge.

11.00. Pilots – 10 in all – took off from Hendon and escorted transport aircraft from that station to PARIS – transports contained V.I.P. Our pilots had flown to Hendon earlier in the day. One pilot flew to Hendon, but had engine trouble on take – off from that station: pilot returned to Base at Brenzett, without taking part in this escorting mission.
16.50. 12 pilots from 306 took off Base for Operation Ramrod 1280. On this mission they were acting as Penetration and withdrawal cover to 100 Halifax aircraft bombing at OSNABRUCK. Pilots returned to base at 20.15 hrs.

11.30. Twelve pilots, taking off from Base at 11.30 hrs carried out a “Market Anti Flak Operation” in the area – ZEVENBERGEN / HERTOGENBOSH. One aircraft was hit by flak and was Cat. “A/C” on its return to Base. Pilots landed at Base on their return at 15.30 hrs. P-1817 F/Lt Marshall, K posted to P.A.F. Depot Blackpool supernumerary pending disposal after completing 1st Tour along with P.784125 W/O Pilot Michalkiewicz, K and p.792449 w/o Pilot Pomietlarz, J.
P-792229 F/Sgt Pilot Dowgalski was slightly injured when his aircraft was hit by flak on the above Operation and the perspex cockpit hood burst. This pilot was admitted to E.M.S. Hospital Willesborough.

13.10. 12 pilots from 306 Squadron, taking off from Base carried out another “Airborne “Market Operation”: this time it was an Anti Flak Operation between position “B” and “D”: pilots landed 16.30 hrs. with little of interest to report.

12.55. 11 PILOTS TAKING OFF FROM Base flew to DEVENTER from another “Market” Operation. Details as at Appendix “A”. Pilots landed by 15.30 hrs. Local flying wass carried out in Mustang and Auster aircraft.

16.16. 11 pilots completed taking off from Base for a further “Market” Operation in the area:- BOURG / LEOPOLD / EINDHOVEN. This flight was uneventful: pilots landed back at xxxx by 19.05 hrs /Friston/.
P-0660 F/Lt Schmidt, J reported on posting from 315 Squadron of this Wing.

Pilots flew back to the Unit from R.A.F. Friston, where they had landed after Operation “Market” yesterday. P-784331 W/O Krupa, W crashed on taking off from Friston – aircraft became Cat A/C and W/O Krupa, W slightly injured was admitted to Princess Alice Hospital Eastbourne.
P781423 F/Sgt Czezowski, J was promoted W/O wef: 1/9/44.

14.45. 12 pilots from 306 Squadron took off from Base for another “Market” Operation. Pilots carried out patrols over airborne troops: making landings in gliders near EINDHOVEN – Holland.
Aircraft tests and some local flying completed flying for today. Pilots landed at Base 18.45 hrs.
P.784123 W/O Krupa, W was transferred to Queen Victoria Hospital East Grinstead.
P-792229 F/Sgt Dowgalski, F was discharged from E.M.S. Hospital Willesborough.

15.40. 11 pilots took off from Base for Ramrod 1295. They were acting as target cover over airborne troops in the ARNHEM area. A formation of E/A were met over target area and F/O Smigielski, J claims one E/A at least damaged – awaiting cine camera film results. P-76748 A/S/L Niemiec, P posted to H.Q.P.A.F. for duty with H.Q. No. 13 Group. P-0715 A/S/L Zulikowski J reported on posting from Headquarters A.D.G.B. taking over the Command of the Squadron from S/Ldr Niemiec. Acting Ranks of S/Ldr were retained in each case.

15.25. 9 pilots took off from Base for Operation “Market” Pilots acted as target cover over a landing strip at GRAVES. Operation was without incident and pilots landed back at base by 19.30 hrs. Local flying and several aircraft tests completed todays flying. P.784123 W/O Czezowski, J proceeded on posting to P.A.F. Depot supernumerary pending disposal wef: 16/9/44.

08.35. 9 pilots from 306 Squadron took off from Base and escorted Halifax aircraft bombing STEEKRADE in operation Ramrod No. 1297. Operation proceeded as planned. F/Sgt Koloszczyk, M did not return from this Operation. He wast last seen flying about 2 miles East of North Foreland when squadron was on the way to target area. It is presumed that this pilot got lost in cloud and crashed into the sea. No news has been received since that time. This pilot was duly reported “Missing” and necessary action taken. Other pilots touched down at Base 11.35 hrs.

15.35. 11 pilots took off from Brenzett for Operation Ramrod No. 1229. In this Operation our pilots were acting as target cover to aircraft bombing EMMERICH. One aircraft was hit by flak over target area and was Cat A/C on return to base: pilot was uninjured however. Landed Base 18.20 hrs.

11.05. Nine of this Squadron pilots were ordered to escort “Heavies” bombing the oil installations at STERKRADE – Operation Ramrod No. 1302 – and this, they did, without incident landing Base by 14.00 hrs.
15.25. Eight pilots took off again from Base: this time for Operation Ramrod 1304. In this second Operation pilots were acting as target cover to bombers which were attacking GOSH. These pilots had nothing to report on their return to Base at 18.15 hrs.
