ANDREWS FIELD
No Operational flying today. Training flying included local sorties, cloud flying, and Squadron formation flights through the day. P-2814 Pilot Officer Krzehlik pilot was admitted to the Isolation Hospital Harrow Road London.

ANDREWS FIELD
In the morning our pilots were busy with Operation “Ramrod 1388” – Particulars are given in the Appendix. In the afternoon training flying was undertaken – eight pilots carried out camera gun exercises, from |A” Flight and a further five pilots from “B” Flight. In the evening fifteen pilots carried out a night flying programme over Base. Night training included Homing: formation: landings: and other items.

Pilots participated in Ramrod No. 1392 in the morning – See Appendix – and landed at BRADWELL BAY after the mission. They returned to Base afterwards in the afternoon.

Pilots carried out three aircraft tests prior to the Operation: during the morning. At 13.45 hrs they took off from Base for Operation Ramrod 1389 – See Appendix: and landed by 17.00 hrs with nothing to report. After tea twelve pilots carried out a night flying programme in which they practised Homing and night landings until 04.25 hrs. P-2434 F/O Harasymowicz, S the Unit Medical Officer proceeded on detachment to the Polish Military Hospital Ormskirk Lancs for temporary Medical Duty.

Our pilots took part in Operation Ramrod 1394 in the morning and landed at Base after the “show”. Flying in the afternoon consisted of four aircraft tests only. P.780784 Sgt Kerz, J the Squadron Continuity Sergeant – Fitter II was awarded “KRZYŻ ZASLUGI” for his good work in the Squadron since 1940. P.792015 W/O Pilot Tomczak, F was admitted to R.A.F. Hospital Cosford.

Bad weather kept our aircraft ground today – there was no flying. P-1032 F/Lt Siekierski, J Flight Commander of “A” Flight proceeded on posting wef: 5/12/44 to P.A.F. Depot Blackpool on completion of his Operational Tour. P-1654 F/Lt Jeka, J took over the Command of “A” Flight, having been reposted for these duties wef: todays date.

09.45. 11 pilots took off Base for Operation Ramrod 1402 – target cover to Halifax and Lancasters bombing DUISBURG. F/Lt Beyer’s aircraft developed engine trouble on the mission and pilot returned early to Base – other pilots landed at MANSTON by 12.55 hrs. Pilots took off from MANSTON 14.20 hrs and landed Base 14.45 hrs. See attached Appendix for particulars of Operation. There was no other flying.

12.25. 11 pilots took off Base and participated in Operation Ramrod 1405 – escorting a formation of Bombers to their T/A at WITTEN. Pilots landed Base 15.55 hrs with nothing to report apart from particulars shown in Appendix. There was no other flying.

Pilots did not flying in the morning, but after lunch at 13.00 hrs twelve pilots took part in Ramrod 1423 taking off from Base and landing back here at ANDREWS FIELD at 16.20 hrs. Full details of this mission are given in Appendix. No other flying was undertaken. P.1303 F/Lt Wisiorek, J was discharged from SSQ. 133 Wing and rejoined the Unit as fit for flying again.
