ANDREWS FIELD
Squadron started the New Year well with Operation Ramrod 1424 between 09.00 and 12.50 hrs. Full details of all Operational flying are given in Appendix “A”. Non Operational flying through the day consisted of several aircraft tests only.

Aircraft tests were carried out in the morning. Pilots participated in Operation Rodeo 408 in the afternoon but had little to report on their return. P-2434 F/O Harasymowicz, S.J. the Unit Medical Officer returned from Temporary Duty at Military Hospital Ormskirk.

ANDREWS FIELD
Our pilots took part in Operation Ramrod 1425 between 14.00 hrs and 17.35. This Operation consisted of escorting “Heavies” which were bombing DORTMUND – and was without incident. There was no other flying.

ANDREWS FIELD
No Operational flying today. Pilots carried out a training flying programme. Through the day Squadron Battle formation and cine camera exercises training was undertaken by nine pilots. Other flying consisted of local sorties and aircraft tests.

ANDREWS FIELD
306 Squadron pilots and aircraft were occupied with Operation Ramrod No. 1427 between 12.50 hrs and 16.50 hrs – See Appendix “A” – and this, apart from a couple of aircraft tests – was the only flying undertaken.
P-2801 P/O Berezowski, F – pilot – was admitted to SSQ Andrews Field.
P-1855 F/Lt Beyer, A the Flight Commander of “B” Flight was posted to P.A.F. Depot Blackpool along with P.782513 W/O Rudowski, S on completion of their Operational Tours.
P-1624 F/Lt Sologub, G was reposted within this Unit as Flight Commander of “B” Flight.
In the morning a lecture top the pilots on “The German Air Force” was given by the Squadron Intelligence Officer F/O B. Tomczyk in the Briefing Room.

12.35. Squadron pilots took off from Base for Operation 1433 and landed Base on their return 16.20 hrs. Apart from details given in Appendix “A” there was nothing to report. No other flying.

Between 13.15 hrs and 16.45 hrs our pilots were carrying out Ramrod 1434 – detailed in Appendix. One pilot carried out air to sea firing: other non operational flying consisted of local sorties and aircraft tests.

Operation Rodeo 409 kept our pilots in the air between 10.05 and 13.50 hrs. In this Operation the Wing at last had a chance to show its teeth and enemy barges and ships were attacked at a point West of ARNHEM – with good result. Our pilots landed Base without event. Local flying, aircraft tests, and further air to sea firing made up Squadrons non Operational flying through the day. A lecture was given to the pilots in the briefing room on “The Gyro Gun Sight” by the Station Gunnery Officer S/Ldr Llewellyn.

14.50. Squadron pilots carried out Section Navigation and Squadron formation flying over Base until 15.45 hrs. Fourteen pilots participated in this training. No Operational flying.
