15.00. The Prime Minister – the Rt. Hen. Winston Churchill made a radio announcement that as at 02.41 hrs on 7/5/45 at General Eisenhowers Headquarters: General Jodl representing the German High Command and Admiral Doenitz the designated Head of the German State signed an Act of Unconditional Surrender of all the German Sea, Land and Air Forces in Europe to the Allied Expeditionary Forces and similarly to the Soviet High Command. Hostilities will and officially at one minute after midnight tonight.

P.704948 Sgt Pilot Ryll, S with P.798449 W/O Pilot Pomietlarz, J as escort proceeded to Military Detention Barracks Dundee to serve a sentence of 28 days Detention awarded him by the S.P.L.O. Headquarters Fighter Command on 22/4/45 for WOAS: At Earby on 24/2/45 breaking flying discipline by low flying. W/O Pomietlarz returned to the Unit on handing his prisoner over to the Commandant.

10.30. 133 Wing pilots carried out interception training until 11.50 hrs. Two pilots from 309 Squadron collided in the air and baled out into the Sea. Wing pilots were ordered to patrol in the vicinity until Air Sea Rescue could be instituted. One of the pilots was recovered later in the day but was dead. The other pilot was not found.
