Ground personnel commenced packing spares etc. prior to Squadrons return to R.A.F. Coltishall. Pilots attended a lecture in the Instructional Centre on “R/T and Radios – R.A.F.”

11.30. Pilots flew the Squadron aircraft to R.A.F. Coltishall on completion of the Armament and Gunnery Training Course. Pilots were commended by the C.O. A.P.S. for their good work whilst at FAIRWOOD COMMON and learned that the Squadron scores and averages through the period had been very high indedd. Ground personnel completed packing and loaded all gear at the L.M.S. Station SWANSEA in the afternoon. At 22.00 hrs all personnel moved to COLTISHALL in a Special train.

“This has been an exemplary Squadron, whose keenness and enthusiasm was outstanding throughout the entire course, and in consequence they attained some excellent results. The Standard of air to air and bombing was very satisfactory. The Squadron average for air to ground firing was the highest yet attained, 34,8 %. It is worthy of note that W/O POLCZANSKI, J on one sortie scored 275 hits out of 292 rounds fired”.
Remarks of A.P.S.C:
“This Squadron has made maximum use of the facilities existing here for armament training. Their successes have been achieved as much by reason of their co-operation and universal enthusiasm, as by their experience and Pilots’ skill. A very well disciplined Squadron – both in the air and on the Ground”.

09.25. 11 Pilots took off Base and landed BRUSSELS sur MESBRUCKE for 12 Group Exercise “TWEAKEM ONE”. Aircraft were refuelled there and made ready for the exercise. Pilots landed 10.00.
13.40. 11 Pilots took off BRUSSELS for TWEAKEM ONE”. This 12 Group Exercise consisted of an attack by all Squadrons of 12 Group – Day fighters – on Headquarters No. 11 Group at R.A.F. Station UXBRIDGE. Taking off from Brussels our pilots made R/V with Mosquitoes and other Squadrons in the exercise and set course for UXBRIDGE. 11 Groups fighters were “Scrambled” to meet our attack – Meteors joined in their defence of the target area. After the exercise had been completed our pilots returned to COLTISHALL and landed 15.50. Without incident.
