Four Atlantic recco patrols from Sumburgh. F/Sgt. Jaworski, Pilot, F/Lt. Ziolkowski, Nav. Radio intercepted a HE.177 120 miles N.E. of Shetlands. Attacked until ammunition was exhausted, leaving enemy aircraft diving with engines heavily smoking. Claimed first as damaged but later information proved enemy aircraft lost in sea and was assessed as ‘destroyed’. Some flying training carried out.
