ABBOTSINCH

No. 309 Polish Squadron, British establishment (WAR)/AC/137, Polish establishment WAR/A/126A, was formed at R.A.F. Station, ABBOTSINCH, on Oct. 8, 1940. The policy governing this squadron is that it is a Polish Army Co-operation unit for the sole purpose of co-operating with the C-in-C. Polish Army. It is the first Polish Army Co-op. Squadron to be formed and is double – banked with British officers and airmen until operational efficiency has been maintained at which time the British personnel will be withdrawn and the Unit handed over to the Polish C-in-C.
Although the squadron was originally formed at Abbotsinch, the unit was to be stationed at RENFREW as seen as minor works there had been completed. The following British officers formed the unit at Abbotsinch:-
