Billeting and feeding accomodation difficulties were experienced during December and January for airmen. The squadron was unable to obtain wooden buildings owing to shortage of timber and no brisklayers available from A.M.W.D. Although these difficulties have been often raised by the O.C. information was received that all bricklayers were employed on priority work and that buildings for the squadron must be held in abeyance.

WEST FREUGH
The first batch, consisting of six pilots and observers, went to West Freugh for bombing and gunnery. The weather was very poor but the results obtained were good, the best average being 7 ½ yards for low level bombing. In Poland the observer was always Captain of an aircraft, this procedure has been adopted in the squadron. The scheme is working satisfactorily.

WEST FREUGH
Further three crews went to West Freugh with equally good results. The Poles would make excellent fighter pilots. The majority are very good pilots, though not always in proportion o their flying hours, but they have rather an impatient temperament. The weather at Renfrew, which sometimes stops flying for a week or ten days, does not suit them.

WEST FREUGH
New gun-posts, against air attack, made of sandbags are nearing completion. These are manned by R.A.F. personnel, while the 11th / 12th Cameronians man four brick pillboxes against ground attack, which were built before the arrival of the squadron. Royal Air Force ground quards will take over entirely on 10.2.41 from the Cameronians. Renfrew has been classed as a C type aerodrome.
