Kirknewton

All rank of the Unit were formed up on parade in Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the formation of the Royal Air Force. Squadron Leader Piotrowski addressed all ranks and gave a short history of the R.A.F., and on behalf of the Polish Squadron personnel expressed their congratulations and good wishes for the future of the Royal Air Force. F/Lt. Doig representing the R.A.F. thanked Squadron Leader Piotrowski and all ranks of the Polish Squadron.
F/O Cybulski (GD) proceeded on posting to 318 (P) Squadron.
F/O Dudzik (A&SD) attached to 1st Corps of the Polish Land Army for Intelligence duties.
A/F/Lt. Piotrowski (GD) and F/O Dudzik (GD) granted permanent war rank of F/Lt. from 1.3.43.
A/F/Lt. Piotrowski (GD) appointed to the acting rank of Squadron Leader from 15.3.43.
F/O Szyszko (GD) and F/O Golko (GD) appointed to the acting rank of F/Lt. from 1.3.43.
F/O Lewkowicz (GD) appointed to the acting rank of F/Lt. from 21.3.43.

Capt Boyd ceased attachment for A.L.O. duties and proceeded to Air Ministry (D.M.C.) on posting.
Sixty army officers on Polish Staff College Preparation Course arrived and attended lectures on R/T procedure and Photo/Recce. One Mosquito and one Spitfire A/C were on view.

09.30 Air Marshal Sir Arthur Barratt, K.C.B., C.M.G., M.C. Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Army Co-operation Command visited the Unit. All ranks were drawn up on parade in line and inspected by the A.O.C-in-C.
General Zajac, Commander-in-Chief 1st Polish Corps was present during the Inspection.
After the Inspection the flanks of the parade were turned inwards and personnel were addressed by the A.O.C-in-C. The line was then re-formed and a “March past” by the Squadron carried out.
On conclusion of the “March past” all Officers and Senior N.C.O’s were addressed by the A.O.C-in-C.
A detailed inspection was then carried out of the following sections:- Maintenance, Motor Transport, A.L. Section, “A” Flight, “B” Flight, Signals, Link Trainer, Armoury, Guard Room, Equipment, Sergeants Mess, Sick Quarters, N.A.A.F.I., Airmen’s Cookhouse and Dining Hall.
After lunch in the Officers Mess, the A.O.C-in-C left the Station by air at 13.45 hrs.
