Telephone message received from Station Commander that two Section and ground crew to move to R.A.F. Turnhouse as soon as possible to maintain state of readiness whilst Drem Airfield is unserviceable.
10.20 Two sections took off for Turnhouse and landed 10.45 hrs.
F/L. KARASZEWSKI (GD) proceeded to Rolls Royce School Derby for Merlin Engine Course.
F/L. JAREMA (GD) posted to P.A.F. Depot supy. w.e.f. 1.11.44 and proceeded on 12 months unpaid leave in order to continue his Medical studies.
LT. BOJARSKI and staff of the A.L. Section ceased to be attached to the Unit owing to the change of duty of the Squadron from ‘Fighter Recco.’ to ‘Long Range Fighter’.

Move of Squadron – Signal received from H.Q. 13 Group ordering the Squadron to move to R.A.F. Station Peterhead (less 2 section of 4 Mustang IIIs. which are to remain at Drem to maintain state of readiness) in order to carry out intensive training for ‘Bomber Support’ operations under the direction of Polish Wing Commander flying. No. 6309 S.E. also to move to Peterhead less sufficient personnel for daily servicing of 4 detached Mustang IIIs. Move to be completed by 16.00 hrs. 13th November 1944.

F/L. DOIG arrived on completion of handing over of equipment and buildings of Squadron and Echelon at Drem and reported that the Station Commander Drem had expressed his appreciation of the care which the Polish personnel had taken of the buildings.

F/L. GORZULA (GD) arrived on posting to Unit for flying duties as Flight Commander from P.A.F. Depot Blackpool. F/L. POLEK (GD) proceeded on attachment to P.A.F. Staff College for entrance examination.

11.27 P/O. JUDEK in Mustang III FZ.111 made belly landing on the runway owing to engine failure due to shortage of petrol. The pilot was uninjured. Crash signal sent & F.765C action taken.

15.30 F/O. ZAJCHOWSKI in Mustang III SR.417 landed from training flight and the undercarriage collapsed at the end of the run. The pilot was uninjured. Crash signal sent F.765C action taken.

Copy of signal received from H.Q. 13 Group which stated that Royalty would be in the Clydebank area between 12.00 hrs. and 14.00 hrs. on Thursday 30th November 1944 and ordering two sections of 309 Squadronto move from Peterhead to Turnhouse on 30th November subject to weather to maintain readiness of 30 mins. from 11.30 hrs. until 14.30 hrs. & then return to Base.

09.25 Two sections took off for Turnhouse to maintain readiness and landed at 10.15 hrs.
TURNHOUSE
15.15 Two sections took off for Peterhead after maintaining readiness and landed at Base at 16.00 hrs.
PETERHEAD
Readiness – Two sections maintained readiness daily at Drem. One section at immediate and one at 60 minutes.
Training consisting of Dummy dive bombing, air to ground and air to air firing, battle formation, squadron formation and cloud formation flying, aerobatics and cine gun, dog fights, navigation and cloud flying and cross country flying. Eighty- three hrs. Dusk and Night flying was also carried out comprising landings, homings and cross country flights.
In all a total of 495 training sorties were flown during the month.
