Early morning mist, but better conditions later In the day. No operational activity. Night readiness and night flying. One pilot did night interception practice.

1942-06-03

A brilliantly fine, hot day. Between 19.43 and 20.35, Yellow Section was operational – providing escort for 3 ships in convoy “Empire” – between Isle of Man and Anglesey. Orbited convoy for 7 mins. and on the way back were vectored to Preston and then to Blackpool, which they orbited and then pancaked. Probably a Jerry up N.E. somewhere.

Another hot, sunny day, real June weather. No operational activity. Pilots at 30 mins. spend their time sunbathing.

Hot and sunny. Formation flying in the morning. Between 20.03 and 21.00 hrs. White Section was operational on a shipping protection patrol. The convoy was “Rapture” – 10 ships, one naval escort. Nothing of interest to report.

A bright sunny day, with excellent visibility. Very hot. Some training – co-operation with artillery and attacks. No operational activity.

F/SGT GRUSZCZYNSKI and SGT DUKALSKI ceased attachment to No. 3 Delivery Flight. F/SGT GRUSZCZYNSKI posted to 285 Sqdn.
