Churchstanton
An airman pilot, while delivering a Hurricane IIA aircraft to Walsall for a major inspection, crashed at Codsall, Wolverhampton. The aircraft was wrecked and the pilot killed. F/Officer Nartowicz flew in the Magister to Walsall while F/Lieutenant Nowierski flew to and from Speke in a Hurricane. 2 convoy patrols totalling 4 hours 50 minutes were carried out.

F/Officer Nartowicz flew from Walsall in the Magister. The squadron carried out 6 patrols totalling 17 hours 50 minutes.
1941-10-03
An airman pilot flew in the Magister to Hatfield while F/Officer Kozlowski delivered a Hurricane IIA there. 8 patrols totalling 25 hours were carried out by the squadron.
1941-10-06
P/Officer Buchwald flew to and from Colerne in a Hurricane while an airman pilot flew in the Magister from Hatfield to Reading and thence to Churchstanton. There was one scramble by a section of “A” Flight at 15.00 hours, but no interception was made. In addition 2 patrols over convoy were made which together with the scramble totaled 7 hours 30 minutes.

The squadron carried out 3 patrols amounting to 6 hours 50 minutes. P/Officer Buchwald flew to and from Exeter in a Hurricane.

S/Leader Wilczewski flew in the Magister to Cardiff.
1941-10-09
S/Leader Wilczewski returned from Cardiff in the Magister. “B” Flight flew 7 Hurricanes to Lichfield.

P/Officers Piotrowski and Maliszewski arrived on posting from No. 306 Squadron, Speke. One Section of “B” Flight was engaged in a scramble which, however, produced no results, and lasted 1 hour 30 minutes.

Two sections of “B” Flight carried out one scramble and one patrol lasting 3 hours 40 minutes. Both were without incident.

Training began today on the Spitfire VB aircraft with which the squadron is in process of being issued. 2 patrols totalling 5 hours 20 minutes were carried out.

An airman pilot flow to and from Kingston in the Battle, while F/Lieutenant Nowierski flew a Hurricane to Speke.
1941-10-16
P/Officer Zdanowski proceeded to No. 25 E.F.T.S., Hucknall on posting for flying training. One patrol of 3 hours 10 minutes was carried out, while in a training flight in a Spitfire VB F/Officer Szalewicz noticed a fall in the engine revolutions and his cockpit began to fill with smoke. The pilot cut off the engine, and selecting a suitable field one mile East of the aerodrome landed with undercarriage retracted. The aircraft was damaged but the pilot sustained no injuries.

P/Officer Piotrowski flew to Dumfries in the Battle.

There was a practise scramble by a section of “A” Flight but the target was not seen. P/Officer Piotrowski returned from Dumfries. Authority was received for the commissioning of the following airmen pilots with effect from 1-10-41 – Sergeants Dobrucki, Cholajda, Gottowt, Samofal, Szymankiewicz, Borusiewicz and Rzyski.

F/Officer Nosowicz flew to and from Northolt in the Battle.

P/Officer E. Kowalski and J. Muszel posted to the squadron with effect from today for flying duties.
