1944-04-01

Readiness from 06.45 to 21.12 hours. Training flying consisted of six a/c taking part in Flight formation flying, battle formation, and dog fighting/exercises. Two a/c carried out sector recco, and one other a test flight.

1944-04-02

Readiness from 06.45 to 21.13 hours. Adverse weather prevented any flying being carried out. Pilots were studying S.D. 158.

1944-04-03

Readiness as usual. Inclement weather continued, thus flying was impracticable. Pilots carried out silhouette practises, and also range assessments in the “Hunt Rangg”. Dinghy drill executed at Southport baths.

Usual state of readiness. Twelve a/c took part in Flight formation flying, battle formation, and dog fighting exercises, using the cine-camera. Two a/c carried out/test flights.

Readiness as usual. Again adverse weather conditions prevents flying. Pilots have exercises in “compass swinging” and refueling of a/c.

Readiness. Training flying consisted of twelve a/c “scramble” exercises, two bomber interception exercises, eight aerobatics and dog fighting exercises with the use of cine-camera. Six a/c do air to ground firing, and two others a/c tests.

Readiness from 06.43 to 21.31 hours. Inclement weather hampers flying, thus only five a/c carry out flights for range assessment. F/Lt Majewski lectures on “fighter-bombers’.

Training flying consisting of six Flight formation flights; battle formation, and dog fighting with use of cine-camera; two a/c carried out photo exercise No.3. while six a/c engaged on army co-operation exercises; two a/c carried out aerobatics and four a/c test flights.

Readiness. Training flying consisting of two Spitfires low flying demonstrations two a/c flew to Northolt and return.

Readiness continued. Training flying in Mustang a/c which consisted of nineteen flights in formation flying. One Spitfire carries out low flying demonstration Manchester.

Usual readiness. Continued training flying in the form of twentytwo flight formation flights in Mustang a/c. Two Spitfire a/c carry out navigational flight. One Spitfire flew to Ballyhalbert and return.

Readiness state as usual. Thirteen local flying sorties by Mustang A/C. Sixteen Mustangs in formation flying.

Readiness from 05.05 to 21.56 hours. Sgt. Bielicki and Sgt. Steinborn scrambled. At 8,000 feet identified a/c as Wellington. Training flying consisted of six Mustangs on flight formation; also battle formation flying. Three Mustangs on local flying. One Spitfire on local flying.

Usual readiness. Ten Mustangs in Flight and battle formation flying; One Spitfire carries out aerobatics, and one Spitfire flew to Ballyhalbert and return.

Readiness as usual. Training flying continued in the form of two a/c tests; one a/c flew to Northolt and return. Squadron personnel preparing for move to R.A.F. Coltishall.

Readiness. One a/c test. Squadron personnel loading equipment etc., on to train.

1944-04-28

Readiness. Seventeen a/c flew from Woodvale to Coltishall. Rest of Squadron moved by rail and road.

1944-04-29

Readiness from 05.45 to 22.15. Twelve Mustangs patrol convoy. Two others leave Woodvale for this station.
