14.00 - 14.50 Extensive operational activity 4 aircraft of A Flight ordered to patrol Convoys off Blythe and North of Farne Islands. 1 aircraft 16.45 to 17.45 hours 2 aircraft patrolled above clouds, sector control.
19.20 – 20.35 8 aircraft of A nad B Flights Convoy patrol off Seaham.
21.00 – 22.50 8 aircraft of A and B Flights on convoy patrol off [Illegible] and Blythe. After being airborne 30 mins. Black section B Flight were vectored on to e/a on information from Royal Observer Corps. After a very brief engagement, in which e/a, a JU 88 made evasive action in cloud, and fired a few rounds, it was shot down into the sea with two prisoners taken. F/O. Niemiec reported Sgt. Baranowski practically rammed e/a. Tactics. Came up in line astern behind e/a then climbed and delivered dive attacks on both beams. Sgt. Baranowski used all his ammunition in one burst. F/O. Niemiec used about 2 seconds in two bursts. One bullet from e/a passed throught wing of Sgt. Baranowski,s aircraft, one grazed.

16.40 – 16.50 Section patrol over base. 19.00 – 1950 same section intercepted doubtful aircraft and identified it friendly. Sector control. 20.45 – 22.10 and 22.55 – 2355 8 sections from A and B Flights patrolled over sea from Alnmouth to Seaham Harbour. G./Capt. Pawlikowski paid visit to Squadron during afternoon and left by air. P/O. Brzezinski went to London as witnes[Illegible]in Court Martial.

14.55 – 16.05 2 sections A Flight under sector control patrolled above clouds. 1 section diverted from practice to patrol Seaham Harbour.
18.05 – 18.45 Section B Flifgt given course 360 270 and 45 degrees by sector Controlled above clouds 10,000 – 15,000 ft.
18.35 – 19.05 Blue section repeats this operation and is then vectored to investigate doubtful aircraft which proves friendly.
20.10 – 20.35 Yellow section patrols base. P/O. Brzezinski returned from London

0840 – 09.45 2 sections of B Flight vectored under sector control to patrol at cloud base.
12.20 – 12.55 Blue section on convoy patrol off Blythe given vector 80 and120 degrees Pilots returned du to weather conditions. P/O. Sikorski flew to Kemble in Magister.

15.35 – 16.30 1 section B Flight patrolled base at cloud base and were later vectored by Sector controller to investigate doubtful raid at 5000 ft. Weather too bad and section returned to base.

Red Section 13.55 – 15.05 20.55 – 2120 and 222.25 – 23.45 on convoy patrol between base and Acklington. White Section 14.05 – 1515 convoy patrol between Seaham and Hartlepool no e/a seen. 22.35 – 22.45 patrol base. 3 sections B Flight 17.35 – 18.45 and 18.10 – 18.45 Patrol base 10,000 ft. Convoy patrol off Farne.

04.35 – 04.50 and 09.10 – 09.40 On patrol to and from Acklington. White Section 09.45 – 11.05 vectored above clouds Sector control. 12.05 – 13.15 and 12.50 – 13.10 B Flight Blue and Green sections on patrol over sea, Blythe to Farne Islands at 2000 ft. And over Ouston. Sgt. Biel ceased attachment to 72 Squadron and posted 308 Squadron.

Over area Seahamto Blythe and E. Acklington 5 miles to Farne.
