1942-11-01
WOODVALE.
Flying training carried out, aerobatics and local flying being the main features. Night Flying carried out until late in the night.
1942-11-02
Limited flying owing to weather conditions. It consisted of aircraft tests and cannon tests.
1942-11-03
Weather continues to be unfit for flying duties. Very Foggy. No flying whatsoever.

Foggy again today. No flying.

No flying as weather continued to be foggy.
1942-11-06
The fog lifted and with the improvement of the weather, flying training was undertaken. It consisted of formation flying, low flying and cine-camera gun practices. Four Pilots and ground servicing crews left for Valley, where fixing practice will be carried out.
1942-11-07
The weather has improved and extensive flying training is carried out. The main feature was air to air firing in which thirteen of our aircraft took part. The other flying was formation and local. One aircraft co-operated with our Operations room. Dusk flying was carried out in the early evening.
1942-11-08
The weather continued to be suitable for flying. Six aircraft of our Squadron took part in Army co-operation exercises. Other formation and low flying was carried out. Five aircraft were engaged in dusk flying.
1942-11-09
Weather continued to be good. Flying was carried out. Four of our aircraft took part in Army co-operation. Other flying consisted of local flights, cine camera attacks and formation flying. There was dusk and night flying in the early and late evening.
1942-11-10
Flying training carried out. Air to air firing and formation flying being the exercises. Two aircraft were employed on weather testing and one aircraft test was carried out.
1942-11-11
Weather deteriorated and no flying was undertaken.
1942-11-12
With the improvement of the weather flying training was again carried out. Our new Squadron Leader flew with each flight for formation flying. One aircraft did sector recco and six aircraft took part in low flying practices.
1942-11-13
WOODVALE.
The first really good day for weather for some time. The Pilots seized the opportunity and did very extensive flying, air to air firing. Twenty two sorties in all were carried out. Five aircraft took part in Army Co-operation and two practiced cine camera gun attacks. Dusk flying was also carried out. As it became very foggy later in the evening, unfortunately no night flying could be carried out.
1942-11-14
Very extensive flying training carried out. Many sorties for formation flying, aerobatics, cloud flying, low flying, and high flying being the exercise. Dusk flying carried out in the early evening and three aircraft tested.
1942-11-15
Flying training continued. It consisted of formation flying, low flying and aircraft tests. One pilot practiced Z-Z approache In the evening dusk flying and later on night flying was done.
1942-11-16
Extensive flying training today. Eleven sorties for air to air firing. Six aircraft drague towing. Low flying and cine camera gun attacks carried out by five aircraft. One pilot did weather testing and three aircraft were tested. Dusk flying carried out. Although night flying was planned a low fog prevented it.
1942-11-17
Air to Air firing was the main feature of todays flying, there were 18 sorties for that practice with six aircraft Drague towing. Other flying consisted of formation and aerobatics. Dusk and night flying took place during the evening.
1942-11-18
Both Flights carried out with flying training. Formation flying, cine camera gun practice and air to air firing was practiced. One pilot practiced Z-Z approach. One section of “A” Flight was scrambled to patrol Woodvale below clouds. No enemy aircraft were encountered. “B” Flight had dusk and night flying. The night flying had to be suspended at 1915 hours owing to thick land fog which formed at that time.
1942-11-19
Flying rather limited. Air to air firing and formation flying carried out during the day. Dusk flying in the early evening.
1942-11-20
During the day flying consisted of Squadron formation practices. In the late evening extensive night flying was carried out. Fourteen sorties today.
1942-11-21
Squadron formation flying continued. Cine camera gun attacks were the main feature. In the evening Night flying was carried out.
1942-11-22
WOODVALE.
Flying rather limited. Three aircraft practiced air to air firing and one aircraft practiced Drague towing. Three aircraft took part in Army co-operation. No night flying was able to be carried out owing the weather conditions.
1942-11-23
The weather being again very poor, flying was even more restricted. Only a few sorties. Z-Z approach and G.C.I. practice was done. Night flying had to be cancelled after two sorties owing to land fog developing.
1942-11-24
Flying again limited. Four sorties only could be made owing to the weather.
1942-11-25
No flying could be done owing to the very foggy weather.
1942-11-26
Weather slightly improved. Flying limited. It consisted of four aircraft doing formation flying and two aircraft at cine camera gun practice.
1942-11-27
Flying consisted of aerobatics, cine camera gun practice and Z-Z practice. Flight formation was exercised by “B” Flight. Flying very limited.
1942-11-28
Flying training was intensified. Thirty two sorties for flight formation, photo attacks, Z-Z landings and air to air firing. One aircraft did Night Flying.
1942-11-29
Eight aircraft took part in army co-operation exercises, Z-Z landings and photo attacks were also carried out.
1942-11-30
Flying consisted of only one aircraft test. It was rather foggy all day and in the evening it began to rain.
